Ah, it’s that time of year again. The warm sunshine and the smell of freshly cut grass. If only you didn’t always have to cut the grass. Here comes Automower by Husqvarna to the rescue. The Automower goes for around $2000 pounds and comes with a docking station as the solar power is only meant as a supplement. Supposedly you save about 1/4 of your electricity by having the solar panel. Recharging the battery while docked takes 1 1/2 to 2 1/12 hours. Automower also requires the installation of

The New Lawn Mowing Robots are Here!
June 8th, 2008 — blog, kyodo, lawnbott
Wouldn’t it be nice to never mow your lawn again without having to pay the outrageous prices of a professional lawn mowing service? Well now there is a way. With the LawnBott LB3500 from Kyodo America you can. This little guy can take it’s orders via your Bluetooth enabled cell phone. When you send it instructions from a Java based program that you download to your phone it rolls off it’s docking station and gets to work. When ever it is finished, or needs another recharging, it will go back t

Lawn Mowing Robots: Like The Roomba, But With Grass-Cutting Blades Of Steel Whirling At 5,000+ RPM
June 8th, 2008 — blog, robomower
Residential neighborhoods across the U.S. are increasingly reporting UFOs — not in the sky, but in the grass. These low-hovering spacecrafts aren’t products of another planet here to abduct your children, however. They’re robotic lawnmowers manufactured by Earth-based companies here to cut your lawn and mulch it — automatically. Inspired by the Roomba, robotic lawnmowers function just like their carpet counterpart. They self-charge at a docking station, run during programmable schedules and

Re: [RoboMower] Re: convert an XLR connector

? I thought I had a clue. Did I say something weird somewhere? The connector on the stock Robomower pack IS a .093″ molex. That’s the one I connect my fast charger to at least. I’ve had to replace it once and I’m gonna have to replace it again soon. Well, at least fix the wire this time. The wire strands have flexed and a few strands are broken, I actually had it throw a spark when I picked it up to put it on there because one of the frayed-out strands shorted. Hacked Roomba RoboVac Mimics Pac-Man While Vacuuming
Filed under: Video Games We were beginning to wonder if the Roomba hacking community had been sucked dry of ideas, but leave it to longjie0723 to give us hope yet. This Roomba hacker (yeah, he also rigged his up for Wiimote control) managed to solder 448 yellow LEDs onto a board and program said devices to move in such a way that a Pac-Man-type image is seen. C’mon, who hasn’t dreamed of having that ghost-inhaler work his magic on those forsaken floors? Check the video after the jump. [Via

I cannot lie… it’s hard work having a baby around. I keep finding that I can’t do the things I’m used to doing. Yesterday, I put Ryan down for a nap at 8:30 and planned to run my Scooba in the kitchen. Then I remembered the Scooba and battery were in the baby’s room. Fortunately, I was able to sneak in and get them without waking him. I can also run the Roomba while he’s asleep but forget using the Dyson. Too noisy! He wakes up just about the time I’m ready to have lunch and watch All My Ch

All Dogs Go To Heaven. For Molly, It Took 18+ Years.
At 3 o’clock this afternoon, Kristine and I entered the local veterinarian’s office with our 18-plus year old beagle Molly, who has been a member of our family, and a constant companion to my wife for more than a dozen years. A little over an hour later, the two of us emerged, and Molly was gone. After three bouts with cancer, the loss of a toe, innumerable odd moles and tumors here and there, not to mention thousands upon thousands of meals, walks, and snuggling time, today was the day we had t
