A general run-down of my day. First, when I was getting dressed after my shower, I can’t explain how I did it, nor will I probably be able to ever do it again, but I injured myself. Somehow, when putting my head through the neck hole of my t-shirt, I wrenched my neck. Mark even heard the noise and came running to the bathroom door, thinking I had either fallen or dropped something. Yes, the snapping noise coming from my neck was so loud, it was heard through the bathroom door. I have been

li-ion for your roomba
March 15th, 2008 — blog, irobot
Filed under: misc hacks, robots hacks [gim] gutted some li-ion laptop batteries to replace his roomba’s battery pack. He had to pick up a li-ion charger and add a protection circuit to deal with the li-ion cells, but ended up with a new lighter pack for his roomba. If you head this way, the protection circuit is a vital component to prevent fires/explisions/etc. Looks like a great resource for robot power or even R/C projects.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

I have a new toy. A gadget. You know me, I give up food, heat and clothes for gadgets. This is an impulse taken. And I’m Spellbound. A Bamboo Fun by Wacom is in front of me. This is an amazing little item. Far more fun, but probably less productive, than my Roomba. Bamboo Fun console came with a mouse and pen as well as Adobe Photoshop 5, Corel Painter Essentials 3 and Nik Color Efex Pro 2 GE. USB connection and software upload allows drawing, editing or designing images (reflected in the

Who needs a Roomba…

…when you have toddlers who fight for the right to vacuum: They’re somewhat less than speedy (most likely because they take a whole lot of breaks to argue vehemently over whose turn it is). They frequently leave the vacuum running unattended while they eat Cheerios and other less-savory items that they find on the floor (nice…). But they do eventually get to almost all the corners. And sometimes they dance or sing a funny little number while cleaning, which is something the brilliant ma

Spring Dugz: Detroit Tigers
March 15th, 2008 — blog, irobot
Filed under: Detroit, Tigers, AL Central, The DugoutBrandon Inge wasn’t too pleased to see the Tigers deal for Miguel Cabrera this offseason. With Gary Sheffield hogging the DH spot there’s no place for Migz but third base, which puts Inge out of a starting job. Known only for his defensive abilities, mostly his arm strength, there’s not much hope for him outside of being a defensive replacement late in games. He has asked the team to trade him somewhere that could provide ample playing time, b

Photographer John Wright visited the new Gadget Show studio this week to take pictures of Jon, Suzi and I. Here’s what he came up with for me. Isn’t it fantastic?! There is also a shot of all three of us which should be popping up soon. It got me thinking about the possibility of living forever as some freaky, smiley, face-bot! The shot is part of the build up to series eight of The Gadget Show which starts 31st March on Five at 8pm. Photographer: John Wright.
