‘Make’ editor tempts fates with handgun-embossed carry-on bag

‘Make’ editor tempts fates with handgun-embossed carry-on bag Tue, Mar 4th, 2008 posted by admin 06:03 PM One of my favorite people in the world of tech culture has always been Make magazine senior editor Phil Torrone. Over the years, I’ve done a number of stories about his various exploits, including Roomba Frogger at South by Southwest 2006, his laser-etching business, his jamming of TVs at a hotel in Austin, Texas, and his work in helping organize Maker Faires. Roomba Watch Out

There are some new bots called OSP on the drawing board. Using advance robotics, these guys autonomously work together to contain an oil spill by surrounding it with an inflatable barrier. Once contained, clean-up crews can jump in and suck the oil out. After reading this, my Roomba just quit. Designer: Ji-hoon Kim With the help of its simple and modular structure, OSP unit can be transported to the accident site rapidly and commence its mission immediately. Like a torpedo and mine o

OSP Robot Is Human Sized Roomba For Oil Spills

OSP Robot Is Human Sized Roomba For Oil Spills Designer Ji-hoon Kim has come up with an ingenuous idea for cleaning up oil spills. Using various features such as boom control modules, solar panels, oil protection boom, communication modules, boom connectors, and propulsion modules the OSP robots work together to surround an oil spill site with an inflatable barrier. Once the site has been contained the cleaning crews can easily remove the oil from the water. If saving the planet wasn’t cool

And considering you’ll have to clean off every one of those expensive robots after each spill, it’s a messy proposition as well. Still, it’s a great idea and could provide a nice boost to spill containment efforts. It’s still a concept at this point, but feel free to DIY one in your garage (but maybe add longer arm
