Sending Mind Quiz Up the River

I’ve been playing with a software package I got for Christmas called Mind Quiz. The program is a clunky attempt to capitalize on the “stretch-your-mind-with-puzzles” craze that’s sweeping the nation like an overcharged Roomba. I have never been able to get the sound on Mind Quiz to work. I can’t manually adjust levels for certain sorts of puzzles to make them harder. Little on-screen buttons like “pass” appear unexplained in the middle of puzzles I’m working on that turn out to mean “capitulate

How Do You Maintain your Lawn?

I just remembered the time when we used to cut the grass at our lawn using a grass shear. It was quite fun doing it actually but very tiresome. Mom wants her lawn well maintained, so we were like required to do it once a month. I remember wishing for a lawn mower so it wouldn’t be as tiring. Like the ones that you ride on to operate. I was seeing it a lot on TV, so maybe that’s the reason why I wanted it. At that time it was the fastest and fuss free way of cutting the grass. It was fun too. Bu

Are Robotic Lawn Mowers Safe?

by wilhelmina achille. By Kerry Clabaugh Youre standing in your front yard minding your own business when a robot with three razor sharp blades spinning at 5,800 rpm starts racing toward you. What do you do? Is this some kind of nightmare? No, youre awake and this is really happening, so once again, what do you do? The answer is nothing. It will just bounce off you and go another direction. Rather anti-climatic ending wasnt it? That is just the way the robotic lawn mower companies want it to b

This Week in Elder News: 16 February 2008

In this regular Saturday feature you will find links to news items from the preceding week related to elders and aging, along with whatever else catches my fancy that I think you might like to know. Suggestions are welcome with, however, no promises of publication. When 65-year-old Joan Anderson retired in 2007, she named her new blog, Peace in Retirement and vowed to work for peace and justice now that she has the time. I’m not sure about the justice, but peace is in short supply. Joan was a
