Rebuild a Roomba battery

Before you buy a replacement battery for your dead Roomba, you might want to consider rebuilding the pack yourself. You can get a couple of 6 cell Sub-C NIMH packs for less money and more amp hours than the stock battery. I’ve been wondering whether it would be economical to just rebuild the battery pack, versus buying a new one. From the looks of it, all it takes is 12 NiMH cells, and from the looks of the case, it looks to be C-Size form factor. For less than $36, I can pick up 12 4500 mAh

Iron Man Scores at Super Bowl

Your eVites are all responded to. Your Roomba is charged up to take care of the messy aftermath.  And you’re ready to go on and on about the importance of 1,080 lines of interlaced vertical resolution. It must be Super Bowl Sunday. The future of mowing, part 98

On Monday, there will be freshly mowed rough on the Members Course at St. James Plantation. That may not seem like huge news, but here’s the rub: The mowing will have been done by a robotic mower. Cue the dramatic music! Another robotic mower? Will we need Arnold as the T-100 once again, to battle these robotic monstrosities? Wait, wait, wait… we’ve got a CGCS in the field who’s been using it. And it sounds pretty good, actually. Conrad Broussard, CGCS, director of agronomy at St. James,

Mono Does Robotics

Shawn at Cogmation has written us to notify us that Mono is being used as the scripting engine for their robotFoundry application. From their testimonial page: We needed a portable cross-platform, architecture compiler system that would allow us to develop code on one OS or architecture and deploy it on another with out recompiling. The problem with using gcc was that for every target OS or architecture we would need a separate cross compiler. Additionally maintaining and developing this tool
